Frithof is a minor character in The Saxon Stories. He is the Reeve of Snotengahan.
Biography[]
The Saxon Stories[]
In "The Pagan Lord", Uhtred meets him in Snotengahan. He formerly was a shipmaster and then lost his left arm in a battle against the Saxons. Uhtred describes the man as full-bellied and very friendly. Frithof serves his Lord, Sigurd Thorson, whom he considers an excellent lord who treats his men well.
Since Uhtred and his men are in enemy territory, he goes by the name of "Kjartan" and tells Frithof a story about his wife in Frisia where he intends to return to. Frithof gets a little suspicious, because Uhtred speech sounds more Danish than Frisian, but Uhtred also explains he served a Lord named Skirnir Thorson who was a pirate living in a place named Zegge. With his last money, Uhtred buys a ship called "Thyr's Daughter" from Frithof and inspects the harbour where a part of the fleet lies, including a precious ship owned by Sigurd and two ships belonging to Cnut Longsword.
