Eoferwic (Jorvik, pronounced 'Yorvik' to the Danes) is the chief city in Northumbria. Today it is known as York. Eoferwic is located on the River Ouse.
Uhtred states that Eoferwic consists of 'a great abbey, an archbishop, a fortress, high walls, and a vast market'.
