Edmund of Wessex is King Edward's third son. He is a minor character in the fifth season of the TV series and a protagonist in Seven Kings Must Die. He the heir to his half-brother Æthelstan and the future King of England.

Prince Edmund is born in the final of the fifth season.
Seven Kings Must Die[]
Prince Edmund and his mother Eadgifu are on the run after Edward's death. They decide to life in Bebbanburg which is still ruled by Uhtred, Lord of Northumbria. Edmund here is trained by Uhtred's son Osbert to be made ready for battles in the near furture. Later both Edmund and Osbert are captured by Ingilmundr' forces, but Æthelstan rescues them so that they will be reunited with their parents. Edmund later joins Osbert in the Battle of England and survives. After the Battle of England, Uhtred has Æthelstan swear that he will never marry and have children in order to ensure that Edmund will ascend to the throne after him, leading to the formation of England.
